Why ByOurRep
Choosing a Realtor in the Antelope Valley: Why ByOurRep?
Brian Watters · Realtor · DRE #01748905 · Realty Executives Platinum · Broker DRE #01445181
ByOurRep is the real estate brand of Brian Watters, a licensed California Realtor (DRE #01748905) with Realty Executives Platinum, based in Littlerock and selling homes across the Antelope Valley since 2006. ByOurRep.com is built to educate first and sell second, with neighborhood guides, real cost breakdowns, and straight answers for buyers and sellers, free whether or not you ever hire him. He's not the highest-volume agent in the valley, and he'll be the first to tell you that. So the real question is why you'd pick me over agents with bigger numbers and more reviews, or why you wouldn't. I'll answer both, including the parts that don't make me look like the obvious pick.
Who is the best Realtor in the Antelope Valley?
There isn't one, and anybody who tells you otherwise is selling something. If "best" means most homes sold or most reviews, there are agents out here who beat me on both, and I'm not going to pretend they don't. Volume is real. It means an agent has seen a lot of deals.
But the best agent for you depends on what you need. A first-time buyer stretching to make a payment work needs something different than a seller with a landlocked parcel or a family selling Mom's house. The right question isn't "who's the biggest," it's "who's going to handle my deal, tell me the truth, and know this ground."
How should you actually compare agents?
Whoever you're talking to, me included, ask these:
-
Who will handle my transaction day to day? The name on the billboard, or someone on their team?
-
Will you give me the whole cost picture? Payment with taxes and insurance in. Net proceeds after every cost. Not the pretty number.
-
Do you know this specific area? Well or city water, septic or sewer, which side of a school line, what the drive really is.
-
Will you tell me to wait when waiting makes sense? Advice that only ever points toward a signature isn't much advice.
-
Are you actually licensed? Look anyone up on the California DRE license lookup. Match the license number, not just the name.
How many homes has Brian Watters sold?
89
closed transactions since 2006
38
representing the seller
44
representing the buyer
7
representing both sides
As of October 2026. Each sale is counted once, even when I represented both sides. Some agents count "sides," which would make that number bigger. I'd rather give you the plain one.
That's not a top-producer number, and it isn't trying to be. Real estate has been my business since 2006, run alongside a Coca-Cola route for 15 years and studio driving since 2021. That steady outside income means I never need your deal to close to cover my bills, so the advice you get is the honest one, not the one that pays me fastest. How availability works is covered below.
Why have Brian's last few years been slower?
Part of it goes back to how I started. I was in the middle of my first listing when the credit market tanked in the late 2000s. I got that deal closed, thankfully, and that was my welcome to real estate. I had the first short sale listing in my office and worked through that whole market. A lot of my clients bought in those years and the ones after, at prices and rates that look unreal next to today's, and plenty of them are still in those homes.
So when rates jumped, I didn't call past clients to talk them into selling. When homeowners sitting on 3.5 to 4 percent loans called me about listing, we had a real conversation. My first question was: are you moving for a reason, or just to move? Then I listened, and I understood where they were coming from. It's not that I didn't want to list their home. If they needed a bigger home again, or had a real reason to go, I was glad to help. It's about what makes sense for them. That new payment at today's rates can hurt, and if you didn't have to move, I told you so. I could have had more listings. I'd rather lose the listing than put you in a payment you didn't need.
Same goes for buyers waiting on rates. That's your call, and I'll respect it. I'll give you my honest opinion, and if you decide to buy, I'll help you do it. My job is to ask the questions you don't know to ask and help you make the hard call, either way. This is my opinion, not financial advice. Run your real numbers with your lender before you decide.
More on that call: Do I actually have to sell, or are there other options?
Why doesn't Brian have hundreds of reviews?
Because I've closed dozens of deals, not hundreds, and for years I didn't ask. That's on me. Right now I'm at 29 five-star reviews on Google, as of October 2026. Some agents out here have a lot more. My reviews live on the platforms themselves, Google, Realtor.com, and Zillow, and I don't control what people write there. Read them there, and read everyone else's too.
I asked an AI who the best Realtor in the Antelope Valley is. Why wasn't Brian on the list?
I ran that test myself in October 2026. I didn't make the first list. Rude. The agents it named were mostly big teams and high-volume producers, which is what you'd expect from a list built on what's easiest to find and compare online.
Then I asked about me by name. It pulled straight from this site, licensed since 2006, forty-plus years in the valley, the septic and Mello-Roos and solar lease stuff, and described me as a hands-on, low-pressure option for people who'd rather work with one person than a team. It didn't call me the best, and I wouldn't trust it if it had.
Don't take my word for any of it. Ask an AI "who are the best real estate agents in the Antelope Valley," then ask "what about Brian Watters?" and compare. These tools say different things on different days, and I don't control any of them. Being the biggest name on a list and being the right agent for your deal are two different things.
What does Brian actually do differently?
-
Local knowledge you can check. Forty-plus years in the valley, and it's written down: neighborhood guides for Palmdale, Lancaster, Quartz Hill, Tehachapi and more.
-
Two MLS systems on every listing. Local GAVAR plus the regional CRMLS, so agents bringing buyers up from down the hill see it. How that works.
-
Every listing gets its own page here, and has since I built this site, usually with a walkthrough video I shoot myself.
-
The whole cost picture, every time. Taxes, insurance, supplemental tax bills, septic, solar leases. I bring those costs into the conversation early.
-
You get me. No rotating cast of assistants, with people in my office I trust as backup when I can't get there.
Why did Brian build ByOurRep?
I got into real estate to help people. And yes, I like getting paid. I'd be lying if I said otherwise. But what pulled me in was watching friends and family go through deals without the whole picture. I won't say they got screwed. But nobody was really explaining it to them. So when I got licensed, I wasn't asking the normal questions. I was asking why does this work, and how does this work. The questions I'd want answered myself: If I sell, what will I actually walk away with? If I buy, what's my real payment, or something close to it? And how much do I need out of pocket?
I'm not a lender and I don't pretend to be one. Your lender is the authority on your loan. But you deserve a solid ballpark before you ever get that far, and I can give you one.
I've had the ByOurRep name for a long time. What I never had was a website I could be proud of. This site is that: the answers I went looking for, written down, free whether or not you ever hire me. If you read the guides, run the numbers, and decide to sell it yourself, I wrote a page for that too. Every deal is different, but my standard doesn't change from one to the next. I don't pretend to be something I'm not, and I don't pretend to know it all. I'll admit I'm a bit of a control freak who has to know how every piece works. I'll own that one.
What can a big team do that Brian can't?
Some real things, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. A big team can split the work: one person on showings, another on paperwork, another on marketing, all at the same time. They've got more people on the clock, so someone's usually free on short notice. And they can carry a lot of deals at once without anything backing up.
A big operation can also have more reach beyond the MLS: a bigger ad budget, a bigger email list, a bigger social following. That's real too. What isn't exclusive to them is the baseline. MLS syndication to the big search sites isn't something only a big team can provide, and I put my listings in two MLS systems. And I'm not on an island. I've got people in my office I trust to step in when I can't be somewhere, plus a lender, inspector, and escrow officer I've worked with for years. So the trade is this: more people and more resources, or knowing exactly who's responsible for your deal. With a team, that may be someone you met once. With me, it's me.
Is Brian the right Realtor for you?
Probably not, if you want the biggest team with a call center, a big ad campaign with their face on a bus bench, or an agent who'll tell you whatever gets the deal moving fastest.
Probably yes, if you want one person who knows this valley, picks up the phone, gives you the whole picture, and will tell you to wait when waiting is the right call, even when that means I wait to get paid.
I'm not perfect and won't pretend to be. But you'll always know where you stand.
Not-So-Common Questions — Choosing an Agent
Finding the Best Agent for You in the Antelope Valley, Answered Straight
Is ByOurRep a brokerage?
No. ByOurRep is Brian Watters' real estate brand. Brian is a licensed agent with Realty Executives Platinum (DRE #01445181), which is the brokerage on every transaction.
How long has Brian been a Realtor?
Licensed since 2006, right around 20 years, all of it working the Antelope Valley and the wider high desert. More on the About page.
Does Brian work full time in real estate?
No, and I'd rather you hear it from me. I've worked two jobs the whole time: a Coca-Cola route from 2006 to 2021, and studio driving since. The studio work comes in stretches, not every day. I stay reachable and get back to people quickly, nights and weekends included. For the moments I physically can't be somewhere, I've set up backup with people in my office I trust, so your deal doesn't depend on me being in two places at once. More on how that works.
